Overview and purpose

In an era of polarization and misinformation, knowing how to debate in a structured and persuasive way is an essential skill for those who want to influence public discourse and actively participate in society.

This intensive 3-day bootcamp provides young people with the skills to argue effectively, use evidence-based reasoning, and engage in constructive discussions.

Through debate simulations, rhetorical techniques, and critical analysis, participants will learn to defend their ideas with confidence and strategically counter opposing arguments.

Learning Outcome

By the end of this course, participants will:

Structure strong and convincing arguments.
Analyze and challenge weak or misleading arguments.
Use rhetorical techniques and public speaking skills for effective debates.

Admission information

Language: Italian
Language level prerequisites: B1 or higher
Audience: Students, young activists, future leaders, youth association members, and anyone looking to improve their debate and argumentation skills.
Prerequisites: No prior experience required. Participants can bring debate topics they want to work on.

3 days (including a guided city tour).

Daily Schedule

Day 1: Argumentation Techniques and Debate Structure

Morning: Principles of logic, building arguments, and using evidence.
Afternoon: Workshop – Crafting a persuasive speech.

Day 2: Rhetorical Techniques and Counter-Argument Strategies

Morning: Public speaking, persuasion, and techniques for responding to opponents.
Afternoon: Debate simulations – Role-play on current topics.

Day 3: Guided Tour of Rome and Final Debate

Morning: Visit to symbolic sites of rhetoric and public debate, such as the Italian Parliament and historic squares known for political discourse.
Afternoon: Debate competition among participants with expert feedback and final certification.
