The Adult Learners Mobility Project (KA121-ADU) is the first implementation project developed by Alfa Edu under its approved Erasmus Accreditation in Adult Education. It runs for 15 months, from 1 June 2026 to 31 August 2027, and translates the long-term institutional objectives of the accreditation into concrete European learning experiences for both adult learners and staff.
The project places adult learners at the centre of the mobility experience while combining their participation with staff development and external expertise. A total of 14 direct participants are planned: 10 adult learners participating in short-term learning mobility, one staff member participating in job-shadowing, two staff members attending courses and training, and one invited expert contributing directly to Alfa Edu. Five of the planned participants are identified as people with fewer opportunities, reflecting the project’s strong inclusion dimension.
The mobility project is designed as more than an international experience. It is intended to test and improve how Alfa Edu teaches adults, provides digital and inclusive support, evaluates learning and connects educational content with practical situations. Adult learners therefore become active participants in the development of the organisation: their experiences abroad provide evidence that can be used to understand which educational methods, digital resources and support mechanisms work effectively in real European contexts.
The project is particularly connected to Alfa Edu’s work with adults who may face educational, economic, linguistic or digital barriers. The mobility format is deliberately short and manageable, making international learning more accessible to adults who may not be able to participate in long periods abroad because of employment, family or other responsibilities.
1. Improve and harmonise the quality of adult education.
The project aims to use European learning experiences to improve the consistency of teaching and assessment within Alfa Edu. Learners will have opportunities to apply their competences in different contexts, while staff will observe and learn from European practices. The knowledge brought back to the organisation will contribute to common teaching approaches, clearer assessment criteria and stronger recognition of learning outcomes. This directly supports the Accreditation objective of creating more homogeneous teaching quality through professional exchange.
2. Strengthen digital transformation and the use of accessible learning resources.
The mobility project will contribute to Alfa Edu’s transition towards more accessible and flexible digital education. European experiences will allow both learners and staff to test digital resources, short learning materials and different forms of technology-supported education in authentic contexts. The purpose is to use the evidence and feedback generated during mobility to improve accessible digital resources and make learning easier for adults with different levels of digital competence.
3. Increase access and inclusion for adults with fewer opportunities.
A central objective is to demonstrate that European mobility can also be accessible to adult learners who face practical or socio-economic barriers. The project therefore includes participants with fewer opportunities and provides a manageable short-term format. Through this experience, Alfa Edu intends to learn how preparation, support, accessibility and follow-up can be organised more effectively and then apply those approaches to its wider adult education provision. Five of the 14 planned direct participants are expected to be participants with fewer opportunities.
4. Connect learning more closely with real-life needs.
The project supports the development of learning that can be applied outside the classroom. The mobility experiences are linked to the Accreditation objective of creating “real-life” modules for adults, where knowledge and competences can be used in practical situations related to employment, digital services, communication and everyday participation in society. European mobility provides a setting in which learners can apply these competences in unfamiliar environments and generate evidence of what they are actually able to do.
The first expected result is the successful participation of 10 adult learners in short-term European learning mobility, corresponding to a total of 50 learning days, with an average mobility duration of five days per participant. The small-scale format is intended to make international learning more realistic and accessible for adults and to generate direct evidence about how learners respond to short, practical mobility experiences.
A second result will be strengthened organisational and teaching capacity within Alfa Edu. The project combines learner mobility with job-shadowing, structured staff training and the contribution of an invited expert. As a result, knowledge is expected to flow in both directions: Alfa Edu staff will learn from European organisations, while external expertise will also be brought directly into the organisation. Overall, the project targets 14 direct participants and 75 days of learning activities.
The project is also expected to generate better approaches to inclusive mobility and adult learner support. The participation of people with fewer opportunities, the use of accompanying persons where needed and the inclusion of preparatory visits should help Alfa Edu identify practical solutions for preparation, mobility support and follow-up that can subsequently be applied to future groups. The project foresees two accompanying persons for adult learner mobility and three preparatory visits across the project.
Finally, the most important long-term result is expected to be the integration of mobility learning into Alfa Edu’s ordinary educational practice. Experience and evidence generated by learners, staff and external experts should contribute to improved teaching methods, more accessible digital resources, stronger inclusion procedures and more practical learning programmes. In this sense, the success of the project is not limited to the number of people travelling: its wider result is the use of mobility as a mechanism for improving the quality and accessibility of adult education across Alfa Edu.
