Discovery: A Family Adventure through Rome’s Stories, Streets, and Secrets

Overview and purpose

Turn your family holiday into a story worth telling.

What if your next trip didn’t just entertain your kids — but inspired them? What if you could explore the greatest city of history not as tourists, but as curious explorers, learning through play, stories, and hands-on creativity?

Discovery is a 5-day learning adventure created for Gulf families. It turns the streets of Rome into a living classroom — where every monument becomes a lesson, and every family works as a team to learn something new. You’ll sketch, build, create maps, listen to stories, and reflect on what each place means — together.

Each day includes a fun, clear morning learning activity, followed by a cultural visit that brings that topic to life. The pace is relaxed and joyful, and the experience is delivered in English with full Arabic-speaking support.

Because the best kind of travel makes you think, feel, and grow, as a family.

Duration and Daily Schedule

5 days, Including guided learning activities in the morning and reflective cultural visits in the afternoon.

Daily Schedule

Day 1 – Becoming Explorers

  • Morning: Families join a welcome session and create their “Discovery Kit,” including a sketchbook and family explorer badge. We learn how to observe symbols and architecture in a fun activity called “See What Others Miss.”
  • Afternoon: Guided walk to the Colosseum where children spot and sketch hidden details in the ancient stonework. A storytelling session brings to life the legends of ancient Rome.
What we learn: Observation, teamwork, and the meaning of Roman symbols

Day 2 – Life in Ancient Rome

  • Morning: Together, we learn how people lived 2,000 years ago — what they ate, how they dressed, and where they met. Families create their own illustrated “Daily Life in Rome” chart.
  • Afternoon: Visit to the Roman Forum. Children look for real-life places they saw in their drawings and discuss what’s different today.
What we learn: Daily life in ancient times, how to compare past and present

Day 3 – Hidden Stories & Layers of History

  • Morning: We explore how cities are built layer by layer. Children build a cardboard “Time Tower” that shows how one place can belong to many centuries.
  • Afternoon: Guided visit underground to a layered Roman site (like San Clemente). Families explore and reflect on what changes — and what stays the same — over time.
What we learn: How history is discovered, and how places hold many stories

Day 4 – Art Tells a Story

  • Morning: We explore how artists tell stories without using words. Children and parents sketch statues and create “Emotion Cards” to show how art makes them feel.
  • Afternoon: Visit to Villa Borghese or the Children’s Museum, where families take part in a creative learning trail with sketching and storytelling challenges.
What we learn: How to read and create visual stories through art

Day 5 – Our Family’s Discovery Map

  • Morning: Each family creates their own “Discovery Map” — a personal memory collage of places, feelings, and lessons from the week.
  • Afternoon: Sharing celebration in a park with a family picnic and a chance for each family to present their map. Certificates are awarded in a joyful farewell circle.
What we learn: How to reflect, express gratitude, and celebrate what we learned together
